555 Oscillator Synth is a free Kontakt instrument from Decent Samples built from a real hardware circuit using a 555 timer. The recorded oscillator is turned into a compact synthwave-friendly Kontakt patch.
A Hardware Synth as a Kontakt Instrument
The project is a great example of unusual sampling: instead of sampling an acoustic instrument, Decent Samples built a physical circuit, recorded its output and mapped the result for Kontakt.
What You Get
The free library includes a synth patch with ADSR shaping, convolution reverb and EQ. It is particularly useful for synthwave, retro electronic textures and experimental sound design where a slightly rough hardware character is welcome.
