Created as part of an MA in Electronic Music Production, this instrument merges atmospheric field recordings with synthesized textures, delivering an immersive audio experience that blends the past and present of Bristol’s vibrant sound culture.

Drawing inspiration from the historical music of Bristol and the city’s atmospheric sounds, this Kontakt instrument encapsulates the urban ambiance and musical essence of a place known for its influential music scenes. Crafting the Sound: Blending Hardware and Software
The instrument’s sonic foundation comes from both hardware and software synthesis. Utilizing the Deepmind 12 and Korg Opsix, Giulio crafted primary synth layers, enhanced by software sounds from Arturia Pigments and The Legend HZ. All sounds were meticulously sampled at 24-bit, 48kHz using SampleRobot 6, ensuring high-fidelity audio and precise loop points.
The atmospheric recordings were collected and processed in Ableton Live, focusing on binaural sound enhancement to create a sense of depth and immersion. The attention to detail ensures that each soundscape feels authentic, capturing the raw energy and ambient noise typical of urban Bristol.
Visual and Functional Design
With a background in graphic design, Giulio has crafted a visually appealing and functional interface. The volume and effects controls were created using Adobe Photoshop, while the animated fire effect in the background was designed in Adobe After Effects. The result is a visually dynamic and intuitive layout that makes tweaking sounds a seamless experience.
