The free tape plugin that makes digital sound less… digital

Sometimes a mix is technically perfect and emotionally a bit cold. HoRNet TapeLite is made for that moment: a free tape saturation plugin that adds gentle harmonics, a touch of natural compression, and that “glue” feeling where elements stop sounding like separate stems and start sounding like a record.

What it actually does in a track

TapeLite gives you classic tape behavior: warmth, soft saturation, subtle rounding of transients, and a slightly more cohesive stereo picture. It’s not a “destroy your mix” saturator—think finish polish, not “melt the speakers.”

Two speeds, two vibes

You get 15 IPS and 30 IPS—simple choice, very musical:

Join the Audiartist Newsletter
  • 15 IPS tends to feel warmer and thicker, great for drums, bass, and anything that needs weight.
  • 30 IPS tends to feel cleaner and tighter, useful on vocals, synths, or buses when you want smoothness without losing detail.

Controls that stay out of your way

TapeLite is intentionally streamlined: you drive it with Input/Output, shape character with Bias, and use Mix when you want parallel-style saturation (more vibe, same punch). That Mix knob is the “make it better without making it obvious” switch.

Where it shines (without making your session a science project)

  • Drum bus: a little glue and attitude
  • Bass: more presence without harshness
  • Synths: less sterile, more “alive”
  • Mix bus (subtle): cohesive, slightly denser feel

If you want, I can do the Yoast pack for this page too.
