TH2 by Acustica Audio
A compact free synth that brings vintage-inspired tone, flexible modulation and more than 100 presets into a streamlined instrument.

What is TH2?
TH2 is the free entry point into Acustica Audio’s THING family. Rather than acting like a cut-down demo, it is a complete compact instrument built around the same analog-inspired design philosophy. It can run in monophonic or two-voice POLY2 mode and gives producers enough control to create basses, leads, pads, plucks and vintage electronic textures without turning the interface into a maze.
Key features
- Monophonic and 1-2 voice POLY2 operation.
- Six VCF filter modes for different tonal responses.
- Four envelope modes for flexible shaping.
- 100+ factory presets created for fast production.
- Superstereo processing for wider patches.
- AGE control for a more vintage character.
- LFO modulation for VCF, VCA and VCO sections.
- SUB control for deeper low-end reinforcement.
Why it is interesting
TH2 is especially useful when you want a fast analog-flavored source without loading a huge workstation. The preset library makes it easy to start from a finished sound, while the filter, envelopes and modulation section still leave room for meaningful editing. The AGE and Superstereo functions are particularly practical for adding personality and width to otherwise straightforward patches.
Acustica Audio also uses its MUST, or Modular Unified Synthesis Technology, architecture here. The developer describes it as a hybrid approach combining modeled analog behavior with its convolution-based processing methods.
Best uses
Try TH2 for synthwave basses, house and techno leads, lo-fi keys, retro arpeggios, cinematic pads and simple analog-style layers. Because the interface is compact, it also works well as a secondary synth when you need a supporting texture quickly.
Formats and installation
TH2 is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats. Acustica Audio distributes and authorizes its products through Aquarius Desktop. An Acustica account is required for the normal installation workflow.
