Harmulator by Witch Pig is a free Kontakt instrument built for producers and composers who prefer their sounds dark, damaged and slightly uncomfortable.
The library focuses on heavily processed atmospheric material rather than conventional acoustic instruments. Its sounds move between distorted synth textures, ominous drones and corrupted cinematic layers.

Harmulator was created around sound design rather than realistic instrument emulation.
Its four main sample sets originated from synthesized sounds created by Tom Coote using experiments with wavetable synthesis and custom audio processing.
The source material was then processed through Witch Pig’s Siberian Hamster distortion plugin before being sampled, giving the instrument its deliberately tortured and unstable character.

Four Corrupted Sample Sets
The core of Harmulator is built from four distinct sample sets.
These sounds are intentionally processed rather than clean. Distortion, spectral movement and unusual harmonic content give the library a much rougher personality than a traditional synth or pad instrument.
The different sources can provide everything from atmospheric background layers to more aggressive industrial textures.
Shape the Sound With ADSR Controls
Harmulator includes familiar ADSR envelope controls for shaping the amplitude of each patch.
A short attack can turn some sounds into more immediate synth-like textures, while slower attack and release settings can create long evolving drones and atmospheric beds.
This gives the library enough flexibility to move between playable patches and more cinematic sound-design applications.
XY Pad for Extreme Processing
The instrument also features an XY performance pad designed to push the original samples further into processed territory.
Additional distortion and reverse reverb can be blended into the sound directly from the interface.
This makes it easy to transform a relatively controlled patch into a much more chaotic atmospheric texture without loading additional plugins after Kontakt.

Harmulator requires a free serial number for Native Access.
Witch Pig currently asks users to send an email with Harmulator in the subject line to receive the serial number.
Once received, the serial can be entered into Native Access and the library will appear as an installation option.

Harmulator is a welcome change from conventional free pianos and orchestral libraries.
