WingMen: Free Vintage Chorus VST With 8 Classic Algorithms
Juno-style ensemble width, glossy JX textures and glassy D-50 modulation inside one completely free chorus plugin.
WingMen by Morphoice is a free chorus plugin that brings together eight modulation algorithms inspired by three iconic Roland synthesizers.
Instead of creating another generic digital chorus, Morphoice extracted the chorus engines developed for its own synthesizer emulations and combined them inside a dedicated effect plugin.
The result covers everything from classic Juno-style ensemble movement to glossy 1980s stereo chorus and the wider digital textures associated with the D-50.
Eight Chorus Algorithms in One Plugin
WingMen contains eight individual chorus algorithms based on three different synthesizer families.
Each model has its own modulation character rather than simply loading different presets into the same chorus engine.

Classic Juno-Style Ensemble Chorus
The EightySix section is derived from Morphoice’s Juno-6-inspired synthesizer.
Its three modes reproduce the familiar concept of the original hardware: Chorus I, Chorus II and the famous combination created when both chorus buttons are engaged simultaneously.
That final mode is particularly useful for wide pads, synth strings and keys where a relatively simple source needs to become much larger in the stereo field.
Morphoice also models the characteristic BBD-style noise associated with this type of analog chorus.

The Glossy JX-8P Character
The EightyTen algorithm takes inspiration from the chorus circuit associated with the JX-8P.
This style of processing is smoother and glossier than some of the more obvious ensemble effects, making it useful when you want width without completely transforming the identity of the original sound.
It works especially well on polysynth chords, electric piano-style sounds, soft leads and backing layers.
Three D-50-Inspired Digital Chorus Modes
WingMen also moves beyond analog BBD-style chorus with its D-50-inspired section.
The original D-50 relied on digital effects, producing a different type of stereo character from the Juno family.
WingMen includes Chorus 1, Chorus 2 and Dimension-style algorithms based on hardware measurements, providing wider and more glassy modulation textures.
These modes can be particularly effective on digital synths, bells, atmospheric pads and cinematic textures.
More Control Than the Original Hardware
Vintage chorus circuits were often intentionally simple. Some offered little more than a button to switch the effect on.
WingMen preserves the basic character while providing considerably more control.
The interface includes parameters for:
- Balance
- Stereo Width
- Noise
- Rate
- Depth
- Delay
- High Cut
- Low Cut
This allows producers to keep the recognizable vintage movement while adapting the processing to a modern mix.
Adjustable Stereo Width
The Stereo Width control is useful when the original chorus effect becomes too broad for the arrangement.
A pad or synth can be pushed outward for a large stereo image, while a lead or supporting instrument can use a narrower setting to avoid occupying too much space.
This is especially practical in productions containing several layered synthesizers where every sound cannot be equally wide.
Control the Vintage Noise
The Noise parameter provides control over the modeled background character associated with the original chorus circuits.
For a cleaner modern mix, the noise can be reduced. For Synthwave, Lo-Fi or more deliberately retro productions, increasing it can make the effect feel more obviously hardware-inspired.
This flexibility is useful because authentic modeling does not always mean that every imperfection needs to remain at maximum level.
Low-Cut and High-Cut Filters
WingMen includes dedicated filtering for keeping the processed signal under control.
The Low Cut can prevent unnecessary stereo modulation in the lowest frequencies, which is particularly useful when processing bass-heavy synth patches.
The High Cut can soften bright modulation and help the chorus sit farther behind the original source.
Together, these filters make the plugin easier to integrate into dense modern mixes.

Final Thoughts
WingMen is more interesting than another generic free chorus because each mode is built around a different vintage chorus character. The Juno-inspired algorithms deliver the familiar ensemble width, the JX-style model adds smoother stereo polish, and the D-50 section moves toward glassier digital modulation. With additional control over width, noise, filtering, rate and depth, Morphoice provides enough flexibility to use these classic sounds well beyond retro productions.
