DROWN IN SULPHUR open a new chapter with “New Moon Rising On Florence”, a massive, dark and uncompromising new single that also marks the Italian band’s arrival on Noble Demon Records. For fans of modern deathcore, razor-sharp guitars and apocalyptic atmospheres, the message is clear: the band is not coming back quietly.
Formed in Italy in 2014, DROWN IN SULPHUR have built a strong name within the European deathcore scene through a sound that is heavy, aggressive and deliberately sinister. Their music blends deathcore, black metal influences and occult atmospheres, always pushing intensity to the edge. Over the years, the band has gathered a loyal following around a brutal yet highly visual universe, almost cinematic in the way it builds tension and darkness.
The group has already made an impact with tracks such as “An Epilogue to the Arrogant”, “Blackwind”, “Morningstar”, “Seed of Hate” and “Vengeance”. Their discography also includes key releases such as “Sulphur Cvlt” in 2021, “Dark Secrets Of The Soul” in 2024 and “Vengeance” in 2025. These projects helped define the band’s identity: violent, dense and dark music designed as a full experience, not just a display of heaviness.
With “New Moon Rising On Florence”, DROWN IN SULPHUR seem to return to something more direct, more organic and almost more dangerous. The track moves slightly away from the most symphonic elements and puts pure impact back at the center: crushing riffs, relentless drums, extreme vocals and constant tension. There is a strong echo of the MySpace-era deathcore spirit, a time when everything felt dirtier, more instinctive and more unpredictable, but here delivered with modern production and sharp precision.
The single is also the first taste of “Strix”, the band’s upcoming EP, set for release on September 11, 2026. The project promises a descent into a dark universe shaped by occult symbolism, biblical references, dystopian visions and esoteric imagery. In other words, probably not the ideal soundtrack for watering plants, unless the plants have already made a pact with the darkness.

The current line-up features Manuel Riboldi on vocals, Erik Bellan on rhythm guitar, Ciprian Grigore on lead and rhythm guitars, and Domenico Francesco Tamilia on drums and backing vocals. With this renewed formation and their signing to Noble Demon Records, DROWN IN SULPHUR appear ready to move into a bigger phase while keeping what makes them stand out: an extreme, dark and instantly recognizable identity.
“New Moon Rising On Florence” confirms that DROWN IN SULPHUR are not here to soften the edges. The Italian band chooses instead to make things heavier, darker and more intense, reminding listeners that deathcore, when done right, can be as atmospheric as it is brutal.
