MARYLANE Unveil “Seven” From New Album Seventh Sense

After gradua identity through “Doreen”, “Midnight Wheels” and “Mirror Maze”, Swedish rock band MARYLANE complete this new chapter with “Seven”, the focus track from their second studio album, Seventh Sense, released independently on July 17, 2026.

Formed in 2023, MARYLANE first introduced their melodic pop rock foundations with the 2024 debut album Winners Write History. Two years later, the band now sound more mysterious, theatrical and confident, embracing dark groovy rock, vintage heavy rock and analog textures without abandoning the melodies that defined their earlier work.

“Seven”, A Battle Between Inner Demons and the Search for Peace

According to the band, “Seven” is a song about battling with demons while looking for peace. That short description captures the emotional contradiction at the center of both the track and the wider MARYLANE universe.

The song is built around an internal confrontation. Darkness is not presented as a theatrical accessory, but as something intimate and persistent. “Seven” explores the exhausting space between turmoil and acceptance, when peace feels close enough to imagine but remains difficult to reach.

Musically, the track reflects the heavier direction developed throughout the Seventh Sense campaign. Groovy rhythms, weighty guitars, dramatic keyboards and Mary Marylane’s expressive vocals create a sound that feels rooted in classic rock while retaining a modern sense of scale.

There is a vintage warmth in the production, but “Seven” never feels trapped in nostalgia. MARYLANE use the language of 1970s rock, occult heavy music and cinematic storytelling to build something distinctly their own. MARYLANE’s transformation has not happened overnight. Each advance single revealed another part of the album’s identity.

Following “Doreen”, released in April, “Midnight Wheels” introduced a more nocturnal and emotionally charged direction. The song explored love, loss and connections capable of surviving distance, time and absence. Its dark pulse demonstrated how the band could make their music heavier without sacrificing melody or vulnerability.

Seventh Sense represents a significant step forward for MARYLANE. Where Winners Write History introduced the band through accessible pop rock colors, the new album moves further into heavy riffs, shadowy atmospheres, epic choruses and existential themes.

The album’s title suggests an instinct beyond ordinary perception, a hidden ability to recognize what cannot be easily explained. This idea fits naturally with MARYLANE’s interest in duality, inner conflict and the fragile line separating light from darkness.

Rather than choosing between classic rock and modern production, MARYLANE allow both worlds to coexist. Vintage tones give the recordings warmth and personality, while the arrangements remain direct, detailed and powerful enough for contemporary rock audiences.

Welcome Back to the Abandoned Amusement Park

MARYLANE’s music exists inside a fictional world centered around an amusement park once operated by Marymaker the Clown.

During the park’s golden years, the sound of visitors, carousels and summer celebrations could be heard from far away. As time passed, however, fewer people returned. The abandoned park slowly became a reflection of Marymaker’s loneliness, desperation and search for identity.

One evening, he heard musicians gathering on the Tivoli stage. Their melody carried sadness and hope at the same time. Believing the songs might somehow be about him, Marymaker left his isolation to discover their source.

This mythology mirrors the emotional contrasts found throughout MARYLANE’s music. Their songs move between attraction and fear, melancholy and hope, intimacy and spectacle. The amusement park is not simply visual decoration. It is the place where the band’s questions, characters and contradictions come to life.

With Seventh Sense, the lights inside that abandoned park appear to have been switched on again. Whether that is reassuring or deeply worrying probably depends on how comfortable you are around mysterious clowns after midnight.

A Powerful and Organic Studio Production

All songs on Seventh Sense were written and composed by MARYLANE.

Drums and vocals were recorded at Sonic Train Studios with Andy La Rocque, while the remaining parts were recorded in what the band describes as the secret corners of the Tivoli.

The album was mixed by Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studios and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson at The Panic Room. Their work gives the record a polished but organic character, preserving the weight of the guitars, the depth of the keyboards and the human energy of the performances.
