After exploring emotional ballads, cinematic songwriting and elegant piano-driven compositions, Jane Marie and Jessica Mia shift into a more vibrant groove with Dance With Me, a six-track EP built around jazz, movement and musical chemistry.

More than just a stylish detour, the project reveals another side of their artistic partnership. Jane Marie’s piano remains at the heart of the music, carrying the melodic sophistication and sensitivity that define her work, while Jessica Mia’s vocals move gracefully between intimacy, charm and rhythmic ease. Around them, a team of talented musicians gives the EP its rich texture and organic pulse.

Six Songs, Six Musicians, One Shared Groove

Dance With Me is presented as a collection of jazz tracks performed by six musicians across six songs. Jane Marie and Jessica Mia are joined by drummer Andrea Romaggioli, saxophonist Sam Silva, and trumpeters Dewi Chilton and Joao Sousa. This ensemble approach gives the EP a genuine live-band spirit, allowing each instrument to breathe and contribute to the identity of the record.

The arrangements feel collaborative rather than constructed. The piano shapes the harmonic foundation, the drums drive the movement forward, and the brass instruments bring warmth, elegance and a subtle sense of celebration. The result is polished yet deeply human, with enough space for nuance, interaction and personality.

“Dance With Me”, the Centerpiece of the EP

The title track, “Dance With Me”, stands out as the emotional and rhythmic centerpiece of the project. Built around piano, trumpet and vocals, the song immediately creates an inviting atmosphere, balancing classic jazz charm with a smooth, groovy accessibility.

Jessica Mia delivers the lyrics with natural ease, giving the song a conversational warmth. The recurring line, “Oh, won’t you please dance with me?”, becomes more than a simple invitation. It acts as the emotional thread running through the track, turning dance into a symbol of connection, desire and fleeting freedom.

The lyrics add depth to the song’s elegant groove. They suggest an escape from reality, a moment suspended in time, where two people meet in movement and allow the music to take over. Phrases like “Let’s slip out of reality” and “Feel alive, dance through the night” reinforce that feeling of stepping outside the everyday and into a private emotional space shaped by rhythm.

There is also a subtle tension hidden inside the track. Alongside the seduction and lightness, the lyrics hint at jealousy, attraction and the awareness that such moments can be temporary. That balance gives the song more character. Beneath its danceable surface, “Dance With Me” is also about holding on to an instant before it disappears.

A Jazz Record That Feels Alive and Accessible

One of the EP’s strengths is its ability to remain musically rich while staying open and approachable. Dance With Me does not treat jazz as an academic form. Instead, it embraces its fluidity, warmth and expressive power. The arrangements are refined, but never rigid. Every instrument feels present for a reason.

The trumpets do not simply decorate the tracks. They answer the vocal lines, lift the arrangements and give several passages a radiant, almost cinematic glow. The saxophone adds depth and texture, while the drums keep everything moving with precision and restraint. Nothing feels excessive. Each musical choice serves the groove and the emotional tone of the songs.

This makes the EP easy to enjoy on different levels. It works as a sophisticated listening experience, but it also carries enough swing and vitality to make listeners want to move. That is one of its main qualities: it restores jazz to something immediate, physical and shared.

A Natural Evolution for Jane Marie

Based in Surrey in the UK, Jane Marie is a songwriter and composer whose background includes work for the BBC, Channel 4, theatre and film. Her music has long reflected a strong sense of melodic storytelling, emotional clarity and compositional elegance.

Her collaboration with Jessica Mia has already explored themes such as life, love, loss and mental health, notably through the album Songs of 2020. More recently, tracks like Are We Done and Unravelled highlighted the duo’s ability to merge intimacy with sophisticated arrangements.

With Dance With Me, that musical language evolves naturally. The emotional depth remains, but it is now framed by a more rhythmic, ensemble-driven and groove-oriented approach. Rather than breaking away from their identity, Jane Marie and Jessica Mia expand it.

An Invitation Worth Accepting

With six songs, six musicians and a clear love for groove, melody and interaction, Dance With Me is a warm, elegant and thoroughly enjoyable jazz EP. It captures the feeling of musicians listening to one another, building atmosphere together and inviting the audience into that exchange.

The title track perfectly represents the spirit of the project. It does not simply ask to be heard. It asks to be felt, followed and joined. From the first piano lines to the final vocal phrases, Dance With Me lives up to its name with grace and style.

And really, refusing that invitation would be terribly bad manners.
