Odin 2 is a free and open-source synthesizer plugin developed by TheWaveWarden. Designed as a semi-modular instrument, it combines several synthesis methods inside one interface, allowing producers to move from warm analog basses to evolving pads, aggressive leads, metallic FM tones and retro chiptune textures.
The current official version is Odin 2.4.0. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, with VST3 and CLAP versions offered across the main platforms. macOS users also receive an Audio Unit version, while Linux users can install LV2 builds.
Unlike many free synths built around a simplified signal path, Odin 2 provides three oscillator slots, three filter slots, dedicated distortion, envelopes, LFOs, an XY pad, a modulation matrix and an arpeggiator with step-sequencing functions. Multiple Synthesis Engines in One Plugin
Each of Odin 2’s three oscillator slots can load a different oscillator model. This allows producers to combine synthesis methods instead of committing the entire patch to one engine.
The analog oscillator provides familiar saw, pulse, triangle and sine waveforms, with drift controls for introducing subtle instability. The wavetable oscillator offers evolving digital movement, while the multi-oscillator stacks several internal voices for wider and denser sounds.

Moog-style ladder filtering, Korg 35-style models, diode ladder responses, comb filtering, formant shaping and ring modulation provide a broad tonal range.
This routing system is particularly effective when separating different oscillator layers. A warm analog oscillator can pass through a smooth low-pass filter while a brighter wavetable layer uses another filter path before both signals reach the amplifier section.
Modulation and Movement
The modulation section is one of Odin 2’s strongest features. Four ADSR envelopes, four LFOs, an XY pad and a large modulation matrix can be used to animate a wide selection of parameters.
Producers can create slow-moving pads, rhythmic bass modulation, evolving filter textures or expressive performance patches controlled by velocity, modulation wheel and pitch bend. Modulation scaling also makes it possible to control the depth of one modulation source with another.

Compatibility and Installation
Odin 2.4.0 is officially available for Windows, macOS and Linux. Windows users can install VST3 and CLAP versions. macOS users receive VST3, AU and CLAP formats, while Linux downloads include VST3, LV2 and CLAP.
The plugin is 64-bit only. It is not available as a 32-bit plugin or in the older VST2 format. A compatible DAW or plugin host is therefore required before installation.
Linux users can choose between a Debian package and a generic installer. The source code is also published through the developer’s official GitHub repository for users who prefer to inspect or compile the project.
