Vocal Labs: A Free Modular Vocal Channel Strip VST
Eight vocal processors, two flexible racks and complete vocal chains inside one free plugin.
Vocal Labs by Delos DSP is a free modular vocal channel strip designed to replace several separate mixing plugins with one flexible environment.
The plugin combines Gate, EQ, De-Esser, Compressor, Warmth, Bitcrusher, Reverb and Delay modules that can be placed across two independent processing racks.
Instead of forcing producers to follow one fixed vocal chain, Vocal Labs lets each module be dragged into the order required by the recording.

Eight Vocal Processors in One Plugin
Vocal Labs provides eight individual processing modules:

The modular design means you only need to load the processors required by a specific vocal rather than running every effect automatically.
You can also change the order of the modules, making it possible to experiment with compression before or after EQ, saturation before de-essing or more unconventional creative chains.

Two Independent Processing Racks
At the center of Vocal Labs are two independent five-module racks.
This gives producers enough space to build relatively complex vocal chains while keeping everything inside one interface.
A typical vocal setup might place corrective tools such as Gate, EQ and De-Esser in the first rack, followed by Compressor, Warmth, Reverb and Delay in the second.
However, the order is completely flexible, which is one of the main advantages compared with a conventional fixed channel strip.

Dedicated Vocal Processing
Each processor has been designed around practical vocal mixing tasks.
The Gate operates as a stereo-linked downward expander and includes sidechain filtering to help prevent low-frequency rumble or high-frequency bleed from triggering the processor unnecessarily.
The EQ provides five bands including high-pass filtering, low and high shelving and two sweepable bell bands.
The De-Esser uses a filtered copy of the input as its detector so that gain reduction remains focused on the sibilant frequency area instead of reducing the entire vocal.
Compression and Harmonic Warmth
The Compressor uses a feed-forward VCA design and includes visual waveform feedback to help producers monitor the effect of the dynamics processing.
For additional character, the Warmth module introduces saturation that can be blended into the clean vocal signal.
This can be useful for adding density and harmonic colour to vocals that sound overly clean or disconnected from the rest of a production.
Creative Bitcrusher
Vocal Labs is not limited to corrective processing.
The Bitcrusher combines bit-depth reduction, sample-and-hold downsampling and band-pass filtering to deliberately transform the vocal into a more degraded or lo-fi texture.
This module can be especially useful for transitions, backing vocals, telephone-style effects or more experimental vocal production.

19 Convolution Reverb Spaces
The Reverb module uses true stereo convolution rather than a conventional algorithmic reverb engine.
Vocal Labs includes 19 curated impulse responses spread across six categories:
- Plate
- Chamber
- Room
- Hall
- Ambience
- Space
This provides enough variety for anything from short, controlled vocal ambience to larger and more cinematic spaces.
Tempo-Synced Delay
The Delay module can operate either in sync with the DAW tempo or in a free-running mode.
It includes tap tempo, ping-pong cross-feed and a damped feedback path that progressively darkens repeated echoes.
This makes it suitable for standard vocal delays as well as wider stereo effects and more creative rhythmic processing.

20 Complete Vocal Presets
Vocal Labs includes 20 genre-oriented factory presets.
These are not simple settings for an individual compressor or EQ. Each preset recalls an entire processing chain, including module selection, order and settings.
The collection covers vocal situations such as:

Currently in Final Testing
Vocal Labs is currently described by Delos DSP as a pre-release build in final testing.
The developer states that the plugin remains under active development, with engine optimization, workflow refinements and additional modules planned for future versions.
Despite the pre-release status, the current build is free to use permanently after registration. It is not a time-limited trial.

Final Thoughts
Vocal Labs is unusually complete for a free vocal plugin. Eight processors, flexible routing, convolution reverb, tempo-synced delay and complete vocal presets turn it into a genuine channel-strip environment rather than a small promotional freebie. The current build is still being refined, but producers looking for an all-in-one vocal processing tool can already build surprisingly detailed chains without stacking a long list of separate plugins.
