stereoSPAN 1.2 by noizplay: Free Stereo Imaging Plugin
One compact strip for stereo width
stereoSPAN by noizplay is a free stereo imaging plugin designed to handle several common width tasks without opening a large multiband processor. It can narrow or widen stereo material, center the low end, generate stereo information from mono sources and apply tonal correction from one compact interface.
Version 1.2.0 arrived in August 2026 with easier installation on both platforms: a notarized macOS disk image and a signed Windows installer.

What stereoSPAN is built for
Many stereo tools focus on a single Width control. stereoSPAN goes a little further by bringing together width shaping, bass centering and pseudo-stereo generation. That makes it useful when a source is too narrow, when the low end has become too spread out, or when a mono element needs more lateral space without loading a separate chorus or delay.
The workflow is intentionally direct. The important controls sit in one row, so stereo decisions remain visible instead of disappearing behind tabs and advanced routing pages.
Useful on individual tracks and buses
A stereo imager can be creative or corrective. On pads, guitars and backing vocals, stereoSPAN can add or reshape width. On a bus, the bass-centering control can help keep low frequencies focused while allowing the upper spectrum to feel broader.
Good places to try it
- Mono synths: generate a wider image without rebuilding the sound.
- Pads and keys: control how much space they occupy around vocals and drums.
- Guitars: widen layered parts or reduce an overly broad recording.
- Mix buses: keep the bottom end more centered while adjusting overall width carefully.
- Sound design: combine tonal correction and stereo generation for fast spatial changes.
Version 1.2.0
The 1.2 update focuses largely on the installation experience. noizplay now distributes the macOS version as a notarized disk image and the Windows build through a signed installer. The core idea remains the same: quick stereo shaping without a complicated setup.

Why stereoSPAN is useful
Its main advantage is speed. You can solve several stereo-image problems from one lightweight interface instead of stacking multiple utilities. That is particularly useful in busy sessions where you want to make a width decision, check the result in mono and move on.
As always with stereo processing, small moves tend to translate better than heroic ones. Wider is not automatically better, especially when the kick, bass and lead elements need a stable center.
